Work Placement Overview

Voluntary Work Placement​

​

Voluntary Work Placement is a placement that you may optionally take part in with an aim to give you more employment skills in a real-life setting. 

 

This placement can either be set up by Quality College of Australia or can be an arrangement by the student, employment services provider or partnering organisation.

 

Quality College of Australia will cover insurance for students who have an approved work placement agreement between an employer, the student and Quality College of Australia. 

 

For a work placement agreement to be valid the signed agreement must be signed by all parties prior to commencing the work placement activity and be returned to Quality College of Australia. 

Generally, a Voluntary Work Placement will be between 1 – 2 weeks in duration within reasonable work hours. Conditions such has split shifts, venues and weekend work must be specified and agreed to prior to placement commencement.​
 

Compulsory Work Placement​

Compulsory Work Placement is a placement which you must undertake in order to successfully complete the course you are undertaking. 

 

This placement can either be set up by Quality College of Australia or can be an arrangement by the student, employment services provider or partnering organisation. 

 

An example may be a Holistic placement, Industry Placement or a pre-employment course where the placement is designed to give you a chance to demonstrate your skills leading directly to employment. Quality College of Australia will cover insurance for students who have an approved work placement agreement between an employer, the student and Quality College of Australia. 

 

For a work placement agreement to be valid the signed agreement must be signed by all parties prior to commencing the work placement activity and be returned to Quality College of Australia. 

Compulsory Work Placement can be anything from 1 – 2 weeks up to 48 service periods depending on the type of placement. This will be communicated clearly prior to the placement commencing. Conditions such has split shifts, venues and weekend work must be specified and agreed to prior to placement commencement.

Industry Placement​​

 

This is a compulsory work placement that is only applicable to International Students to be completed during their study. This placement is conducted over a period of 6 months based at a hospitality industry employer. During this period, they must demonstrate 12 service periods where they are the supervisor in the workplace. 

 

This is conducted as part of the unit SITHKOP005 - Coordinate cooking operations.

Holistic Placement​​

 

This is a type of compulsory work placement that needs to be completed to complete an accredited unit within a training package. This placement requires a participant to complete a minimum number of service periods in a real-life or simulated environment to demonstrate their overall competence.
